SPAR TUNNEL
After the floor is installed the next item I worked on was the spar box where the wing spars come together and bolt into the fuselage.
CONTROL PUSHROD COVER
I decided to bend my own cover for the elevator control rod for the lowered seat option. That is an extra piece to buy from Sonex. I love those guys but in the interest of time (and money) I decided on the quick and easy option to make my own. I got it done on the second try...pesky measurement issues.
The first and second attempts. This piece was actually pretty easy to bend. The
first picture shows the piece after I had already bent the "U" section in
my Harbor Freight Aviation Supply 18" bending brake and this picture shows the
two pieces I made.
IDLER ARM AND MAIN SEAT SUPPORT
In the first two pictures below I'm showing how I jigged the idler assembly to keep things square to drill the hole for the pivot. The next is a shot of the idler and how it attaches to to the lowered seat support.
LOWERED SEAT DETAILS
Below are a few shots of putting together the lowered seat framework. It went together pretty easily. After I had enough holes drilled to hold it together I was able to take it out and finish drilling on the table. Read the drawing revs for this page. The upper angle is 1/8X1/8X1 and not the 032 sheet called out in the plans.
SEAT SLING
Just a few shots of laying out the seat...
